Police: Man stabbed to death with scissors over NIS 2m. debt

A 2,000 shekel debt was enough to spark an argument that led to the murder of a 39-year-old Tel Aviv man on Monday in his apartment on Dizengoff street, police said Wednesday.

On Wednesday police arrested a 31-year-old local man who they said the victim, Michael Furinian owed 2,000 shekels. According to police, the killer, whose name is banned from publication, came tot he apartment on Monday and was let in by Furinian. At some point after he entered the apartment, an argument broke out between the two men and the suspect stabbed Furinian repeatedly with a pair of scissors. One of those blows stroke Furinian in the throat, according to police.

On Wednesday the suspect was taken to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's court, where his remand was extended by seven days.

Furinian was arrested two months before his death for a charge related to the sale of kiosk drugs. Police believe that the debt may have been linked somehow to the kiosk drug trade.
