Rivlin: Jews don't really want Arabs to join IDF

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Monday called for the Arab public sector to perform national service in lieu of being drafted into the IDF.

Speaking in Kafr Kara at an Iftar meal, wherein Muslims break their Ramadan fast, Rivlin said "anyone of intelligence knows that we can not draft the Arab sector to the IDF. Calls for this are hypocritical and even malicious. The Arab public can not [join the IDF] and the Jewish public is not really interested in [seeing them in the IDF.]

Rivlin called for the establishment of an independent administration charged with organizing Arab inductees into national service programs.
