Report: Turkey rejects Israels call to resume normal ties

Turkey reiterated its preconditions for any resumption of normal ties with Israel after Israel reportedly announced that it was ready for talks, the Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reported on Monday.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry in Ankara rejected a diplomatic outreach allegedly made by Foreign Ministry Deputy Director-General Pinchas Avivi, according to Hurriyet.
Avivi reportedly told Turkish journalists that Israel and Turkey should set aside their differences and discuss the escalating crisis in Syria, Hurriyet claimed.
Selçuk Ünal, a spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, responded to the alleged statement, telling the Daily News “Israeli officials should take the steps expected [by Turkey] to normalize relations instead of giving messages through statements to press.”
