Moussa weighs in on gas deal cancellation: A natural step

Terminating the natural gas deal between Egypt and Israel was a natural step in light of the corruption that marred the agreement, former Arab League chief and Egyptian presidential candidate Amr Moussa said Monday.
"I regret that this peace of news was announced from Israel and not from within Egypt, thus confirming the fact that we have not reached the required level of transparency in dealing with a number of issues of interest to the Egyptian public," said Moussa - who also served as Egypt's foreign minister - according to state-owned Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram's website.
Moussa said it was important that Egypt reach the necessary level of "efficiency" in order to prevent legal consequences that "affect Egyptian interests."
