NYT: US warns Iran on Hormuz through secret channel

The United States used a secret diplomatic channel to tell Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameneni that closing the Strait of Hormuz would constitute crossing a "red line," The New York Times reported Friday.
How America would respond to an Iranian breach of its red lines remained unclear.
In recent weeks, Iran has threatened to block the strategic Strait, through which 20 percent of the world's daily oil is shipped.
