Ex-diplomat charged with receiving bribes

Former military attaché to Switzerland Col. (Res) Shmuel Avivi, was indicted on Monday on charges of receiving bribes and breach of trust.
Avivi allegedly conducted unauthorized business with a local arms dealer while he served in the post between 2002-2005 in exchange for jobs, gifts and cash for him and his wife worth hundreds of thousands of shekels.
According to the indictment, Avivi helped his Swiss partner establish companies in Israel to export Israeli manufactured weapons and military equipment to his partner’s clients in Switzerland and took an active role in managing the companies while still enlisted in military service.
