Senior PA official: what makes Egypt happy, gladdens us

Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath said that the Palestinians respect the desires of the Egyptian people for democracy and free elections, Israel Radio reported Saturday. A democratic Egypt, he continued, would be stronger and more able to support the Palestinian people, and that a stronger Egypt is needed now more than ever.

In an interview with Palestenian news agency Al-Ayam, Shaath said that the Egyptians used a peaceful intifada, and that the army showed that their allegiance was to the people of Egypt and against only their external enemies.

Nabil added that whatever makes the Egyptian nation happy, also makes the Palestinian nation happy.
