Central Election Committee budget cut by 95.5%

The Central Election Committee's budget for 2014 will be 4.5 percent of what it was this year, the Knesset Finance Committee decided Thursday.
The sharp decrease, from NIS 246 million to NIS 11 million, is because there was an election in 2013 and, according to Finance Committee chairman Nissan Slomiansky (Bayit Yehudi), there is unlikely to be one in 2014.
Central Election Committee expenses for a non-election year include administrative fees to the Knesset, where the committee has its offices, maintenance of its logistics center, computers, salaries and retirement compensation, among others.
The Finance Committee unanimously approved the cut.
