Haifa chief rabbi summoned for bribery charges

Haifa Chief Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen was sent a summons Thursday morning by Jerusalem district prosecutors to appear for a hearing.
The rabbi was suspected of committing counts of bribery and false registration of corporate documents.
Cohen was previously investigated in the "Rabbi Affair," on suspicion of giving false rabbinical certificates to personnel in the security forces. The rabbi avoided criminal charges in that case by saying he would resign from public office but when he failed to follow through with that declaration, prosecutors decided to go ahead with the charges.
