US military airdrops food and water for Yazidis on Mt. Sinjar

For the sixth time, the US military carried out an airdrop of food and water for thousands of Iraqis on Mount Sinjar in Iraq under threats from the Islamic State, according to a statement from the United States Central Command.

The airdrop included a total of 108 bundles of supplies, with 7,608 gallons of clean drinking water and 14,112 ready-to-eat meals.

According the the Central Command, the US military has delivered almost 100,000 meals and more than 27,000 gallons of drinking water to the displaced Yazidis.
