Herzog: Don't blow gas issue with Egypt out of proportion

MK Isaac Herzog said Monday morning that the the natural gas dispute between Israel and Egypt is a negative development, but is being blown out of proportion.

Speaking to Israel Radio, Herzog said that "this is not a positive development, but I think we should not make more of this than it is... On a policy level, it is clear to all of us, both to Israel and to Egypt, to continue to maintain the peace treaty."

"There is no interest in a deterioration from either side," he added.

Turning to the Beit El settlement, Herzog said that "there is no doubt that Beit El is of paramount importance to the Jewish nation. But it should also be subject to Israeli law."
