Senior Hamas leaders: No truce with Israel

Hamas deputy leader Abu Marzouq on Friday rejected the possibility of a ceasefire with Israel, according to Palestinian news agency Ma'an, saying "there are many calls for truce but it will not be soon."

Likewise, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed to Ma'an Friday that the terror group had dismissed overtures from "several mediators" offering to broker an end to hostilities.

Abu Zuhri reportedly said that Hamas "received proposals through several international and regional parties to broker a truce, but Hamas believes the Israeli occupation is not serious about reaching a ceasefire agreement."

Another senior Hamas official, Ahmad Yousef, told Ma'an that the Egyptian leadership no longer trusted Israel to abide by a ceasefire.

Referring to the new Egyptian government, Yousef said that "The rules of the game have changed now. Things are different."
