Weinstein considers reopening Harpaz probe

Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein met with advisers in the Ministry of Justice on Thursday night to confer over whether to reopen the criminal investigation in the "Harpaz document" affair in light of new information that he recently received.
In the last few days, State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss provided Weinstein with new evidence regarding, among other things, IDF Col. Erez Weiner's involvement in the affair. At the time of the affair, Weiner was a key aid to former IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi.
The new developments come as the state must submit a response to the Supreme Court on Friday to Weiner's petition demanding disclosure of documents in the state's possession.
If the state reopened the criminal investigation against Weiner, it is possible that it would have additional grounds to avoid disclosing documents pending the continuation of the investigation.
