PA official: We won't let Israel decrease number of bodies

The PA will not allow Israel to decrease the number of terrorist bodies it was expected to transfer, PA Civil Affairs Minister Hussein a-Sheikh told Army Radio on Tuesday.

"This is a sensitive issue from our standpoint, and the games being played are unacceptable since we have already reached an agreement," Sheikh said in an interview.

Sheikh denied that the transfer of the bodies was meant to pressure PA President Mahmoud Abbas to cancel plans to demand independent Palestinian statehood from the UN General Assembly in September.

"In discussions over the transfer of bodies we agreed that the move would not be related to the diplomatic process or to [kidnapped IDF solder Gilad] Schalit, furthermore, Schalit is not even in our captivity," Sheikh said.
