Livni slams Rabbinate for not accepting IDF conversions

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni on Tuesday accused the Chief Rabbinate of "refusing to accept those that are different" while discussing the IDF conversions bill at a conference held by Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin.

"The conversion issue is falsely thought of as a solely religious issue - conversion is also a national issue of the utmost importance," said Livni. "We are talking about the same soldiers who risk their lives in the army, want to join the Jewish people and went through the proper conversion process. But all this is still not good enough for the Chief Rabbinate."
