The High Court in London on Friday rejected a complaint filed by Arkady Gaydamak last year against businessman Lev Leviev in a dispute over African diamonds.
In the complaint, Russian- Israeli tycoon Gaydamak contended that Leviev had not paid him commissions and dividends on diamonds trading in Angola since 2004. He contended that the value of these was $2 billion.
In the coming days the English court will also issue legal costs in light of the rejection of the claim.
In the ruling, judge Sir Geoffrey Vos stated that during his testimony Gaydamak contradicted himself, gave different versions of events on fundamental issues, and raised information that was not included in the affidavit that he filed in the framework of the legal proceedings. The judge also said that he did not find Gaydamak a reliable witness; his answers were rambling and unintelligible, and he did not answer the questions.
