Ayalon accuses some in int'l community of double-standards

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon on Thursday accused some in the international community of demonstrating double-standards.
"There is a sense of urgency in the international community to press for an enforced settlement between us and the Palestinians compared to an indifference towards Iran," Ayalon said during a briefing at Mishkenot Shaananim in Jerusalem. "Some in the international community are demonstrating double standards."
He warned against imposing a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians and urged the international community to act strongly to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions.
"Instead of pressing for a forced agreement that will only be a failed peace, it is important to set timelines and to take a firm stance against Iran. Removing the Iranian threat will help support a settlement with the Palestinians and will cease its support for Hamas, Hizbullah and other terrorist organizations which undermine Israel," he said. "To reach a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians there must be trust and cooperation that can only be achieved through direct talks."
