Foreign Ministry asks Gaza flotilla to dock at Ashdod

The Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Sweden, and Ireland, the countries from which the Gaza flotilla originated, to separate meetings on Thursday to explain that Israel views the expedition as an unnecessary provocation due to the lack of a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Ministry has offered the flotilla the option of docking in the port of Ashdod where the boats' cargo will be checked for weapons and then the humanitarian goods will be distributed by land to Gaza.
