Elderly man hit by J'lem light rail, in serious condition

An elderly pedestrian was hit by a light-rail train in Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon as he was walking in the vicinity of Damascus Gate and New Gate outside the Old City. It was the first serious accident involving the light rail system, which was temporarily suspended following the incident.
Magen David Adom reported that the man was 86 years old and was taken to Ein Karem hospital in an extremely serious condition.
