Alan B. Slifka, 81, Abraham Fund founder dies

Alan B. Slifka, social entrepreneur and philanthropist, passed away on Friday in Los Angeles at the age of 81. Funeral services will take place Monday.
Slivka established The Abraham Fund Initiatives, along with his sociologist friend Dr. Eugene Wiener, a professor at Haifa University who at the time was active in the struggle for civil rights in the United States.
The Abraham Fund, established in 1989, has worked since to advance a shared society of inclusion and equality between Jews and Arabs in Israel.
Slifka served as chairman of the organization from its founding. In 2000, he was awarded the Knesset Prize for Coexistence in recognition of The Abraham Fund’s work.
