The Free Pollard campaign marked the 27th anniversary of Israeli agent Jonathan
Pollard's arrest on the civil calendar Wednesday by urging people around the
world to write him letters of encouragement.
The campaign expressed hope that US
president Barack Obama would decide to commute Pollard's life sentence to time
served during the traditional holiday pardon season in the United States that
begins with Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday and continues through Christmas.
Pollard's wife Esther marked the day by praying for her husband's release at the
Western Wall. The letter writing campaign will continue Thursday, which is the
anniversary of Pollard's arrest on the Jewish calendar.
