Two cases of bacterial meningitis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the
brain) were recently diagnosed in children in a day care center in Bnei Brak.
They were given antibiotic treatment, and their conditions have
improved.
All the children who attend the center were also given
prophylactic treatment after their parents were informed to prevent them from
getting infected, as did the staff. Doctors and nurses from the Tel Aviv
District Health Office were sent to the day care center to explain the disease
and ways to prevent its spread.
The ministry said on Monday that people
outside the facility and those do not live in the same house with someone who
took sick need not be concerned about being infected.
