Report: Iran resumed shipping aid to Syria via Iraq

Iran has resumed shipping military equipment to Syria via Iraq, to the frustration of US officials, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

US President Barack Obama's administration had reportedly pressed Iraq to stop allowing Iranian flights through the country's airspace, but the overflights resumed in July and have continued since.

According to the Times, military experts have said the flights are providing Iran with an avenue to funnel aid to Syria at a time when rebels have been attempting to seize several border crossings.
