UN chief: Egypt should respect freedom of speech

The UN chief says that Egypt's decision to cut Internet access ahead of planned protests goes against the democratic principles of freedom of expression and association.
Speaking to reporters Friday at the World Economic Forum, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that he has been following closely the protests in Tunisia, Yemen and Egypt and urged leaders to ensure that further violence is avoided.
The UN chief said leaders should view the situation as a chance to address what he calls the "legitimate concerns" of their people.
