The Yisrael Beytenu party on Sunday responded to reports that it does not plan on remaining united with Likud following elections by reiterating that such arrangements will only be made within one month of the election, as was detailed in the two parties' unification agreement signed late last year.
Speaking on behalf of party leader Avigdor Liberman, an Yisraeli Beytenu spokesman reportedly told the Haaretz daily on Sunday that the party would not remain united after the election.
"Contrary to the story published in Haaretz, in the agreement signed between Likud and Yisrael Beytenu, as it was presented to the Central Elections Committee, it is explicitly written that the agreement regarding the unification of the parties will be made a month after the elections," an Yisrael Beytenu spokesperson wrote in response.
"Likud and Yisrael Beytenu are running for the Knesset together and will cooperate closely and fully at the highest levels, and no unification will break down," the statement added.
