Ben-Gurion Airport handled 12.4 million passengers in 2012, 1.4 percent more
than in 2011, the Israel Airports Authority reported Sunday. The airport handled
89,700 takeoffs and landings in 2012, 0.6% fewer than in 2011. Domestic
passenger traffic fell 2.5% from 2011 to 733,000 in 2012.
El Al Israel
Airlines Ltd. was the top carrier at Ben-Gurion Airport in 2012, carrying 4.09
million passengers, 2% more than in 2011. The carrier’s market share was
unchanged, at 33%. Arkia Airlines Ltd. was in second place, carrying 466,000
international passengers in 2012, 17% fewer than in 2011.
Lufthansa was
in the third place, carrying 428,000 passengers in 2012, 7% fewer than in 2011.
