Professor Yaacov Bar- Siman-Tov, a long-time international relations professor
at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, died Monday morning.
He suffered from a
cardiac arrest, the university said. He was 67. Bar-Siman- Tov, an expert in
international conflict management and resolution, focused on the barriers to
peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Israel’s disengagement from the
Gaza Strip.
He founded the Swiss Center for Conflict Research, Management and
Resolution at Hebrew University, and headed the masters program from 1999-2009
and taught in it until this year. He also headed the think tank at the Jerusalem
Institute for Israel Studies.
Bar-Siman-Tov’s funeral will be held at
Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim on Tuesday at 4 p.m., the university said.
