Two people were killed in a car bombing in central Rishon Letzion on Thursday morning, in what police are saying is an underworld hit.
It is unclear if the bomb was fixed to the car hours before and set off with a timer or if it was stuck to the side by a motorcyclist.
Over the past two years there has been an ongoing gang war between the Abergil family and its rivals over control of criminal enterprises in the city, which has claimed the lives as several victims.
The hit is the latest of around a half-a-dozen car bombings in the Tel Aviv area in the past couple months, including one earlier this month in which brothers Shaul and Yaniv Peretz were wounded in south Tel Aviv’s Tel Kabir neighborhood.
