WASHINGTON – The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has
pledged cash for Israel’s needy for every kilometer finished in Friday’s Tel
Aviv Marathon.
The fellowship, a US-based foundation that raises $73
million annually for Israel, has pledged NIS 5, or $1.35, for every kilometer
completed by every runner in the March 15 Tel Aviv-Gillette Marathon and in its
ancillary runs, which include a halfmarathon and a 4.2 kilometer fun
run.
The marathon anticipates that 35,000 runners will complete 600,000
kilometers.
The money will go toward food and clothing for needy children
ahead of Passover.
