A healthy 40-year-old woman who underwent laparoscopic surgery to repair a
hernia in the diaphragm (below her lungs) died at Tel Aviv’s Sourasky Medical
Center on Wednesday after a large artery was unintentionally cut and her blood
pressure suddenly collapsed.
The hospital said the surgeon in charge was senior
and very experienced at such operations.
The medical team tried to resuscitate
her, but there was no way to save her, the hospital said, adding that they
expressed their deep regret to the family.
