Ex-convict killed in Netanya during a card game

A 28-year-old man with a criminal record was shot dead on Thursday night in Netanya’s Poleg area and a second man was shot and critically injured in what police say was a dispute which erupted during a card game.
Magen David Adom crews who were called to the scene attempted to resuscitate Yossi Turgeman, who suffered gunshot wounds to the face, but were forced to pronounce him dead. The shooting took place at a home used to operate a gambling service. Turgeman was convicted in the past of running over and killing a civilian pedestrian, Merav Gabai, in Pardes Hanna in 2005, while fleeing police in his vehicle. Turgeman was being pursued after attempting to murder a criminal rival with a shoulder-launched LAU missile. He was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for killing Gabai.
The second shooting victim, Mark Haneneyev, aged 27, managed to exit the apartment and walk to a nearby road, where he was found by paramedics who were called to the scene before evacuating him to Laniado Hospital in the city.
Police on Friday obtained a court-ordered media ban on all details of the investigation.
