Prosecutors close incitement case against Safed rabbi

The Ministry of Justice announced on Sunday that it is closing its investigation into allegations of incitement by Safed Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu.
The announcement mentioned that there was not enough evidence to prove that Eliyahu had actually made the statements of incitement attributed to him.
Moreover, there was considerable evidence showing that his actual statement may have differed in a legally significant way from the statements attributed to him.
The investigation was opened after it was alleged that Eliyahu had issued a Jewish religious-legal decree banning renting or selling residences to Arabs.
