Court documents show settlers got land deals in e. J'lem

The government sold or leased properties in Arab areas of east Jerusalem to settlers at low prices and helped them cement a Jewish presence in disputed areas of the holy city, according to court documents published on Sunday.

The documents are the first to show how easily settlers were able to put down stakes in these areas with the help of successive Israeli governments.

The documents were released to anti-settlement activists who sought a comprehensive accounting of the government's relationship with the groups Elad and Ateret Cohanim.

The documents refer to 11 properties, but activists say the state is withholding information.
