Gunfire erupts at North Carolina high school, one person wounded

Gunfire on Friday at high school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, wounded at least one person, and one person was taken into police custody, said Theo Helm, a spokesman for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools.
The gunfire at Carver High School was first reported around 2:30 p.m. EDT, and more than 30 police officers responded, local television station WXII reported.
More than 700 students from grades 9 through 12 attend Carver, which is located near downtown Winston-Salem.
The shooting occurred more than a week after a 20-year-old opened fire with an AK-47 in a suburban Atlanta elementary school. The man was arrested, and there were no injuries in the incident.
