Bayit Yehudi demands apology from European Parliament president

The Bayit Yehudi party, whose faction members stormed out in protest during the speech given by the European Parliament President Martin Schulz, demanded an apology for his "lies" and "deceptive propaganda."

"The statements made in the Knesset today are particularly grave," Bayit Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett said on Wednesday. "The Bayit Yehudi is demanding an apology from the president of the European Parliament who uttered two lies during his speech which were introduced to him by the Palestinians."

"Keeping quiet in the face of deceptive propaganda is offering a stamp of legitimacy to activities against the citizens of Israel," Bennett said.

"We will not keep quiet in the face of lies," Bennett wrote on his Facebook account.

The pro-settler party took issue with Schulz pointing out that the average Palestinian used 17 liters of water per day, while the average Israeli had access to 70 liters per day. The parliament chief's statements on the Israeli siege of Gaza also angered Bennett.

"Unfortunately, nobody bothered to protest [these statements] or to correct him," Bennett wrote. "I will not accept the deceptive preaching of morality to the people of Israel and the Israeli Knesset. I certainly won't accept it in German."
