Aid group helps Russian Jews affected by floods

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) has reached out to several hundred Jews living in Russia's Krasnodar region, which was hit by massive floods earlier this week.
The deluge claimed the lives of some 150 locals and left thousands homeless. There were no reported Jewish victims. The Jewish aide group pledged on Monday to help repair Jewish homes in the hardest hit towns of Krimsk, Gelendzhik and Novorossiyisk after a damage assessment is made. Some 500 Jews live in Krasnodar, a southern Russian province on the shores of the Black Sea.
