Israel holds talks about ME nuclear disarmament parley

Foreign Ministry officials in Israel confirmed Wednesday talks were held last week in Jerusalem about possible Israeli participation in a Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty conference scheduled to be held in Helsinki in December.
The officials said Israel relayed its position that in order for a nonproliferation regime to work in this region there needed to be both peace and stable, accountable regimes with whom to sign an agreement. Neither of those conditions currently exist,  the Israeli team -- led by Foreign Ministry Deputy Director General for Strategic Affairs Jeremy Issacharoff – told Finland's Undersecretary of State Jaakko Laajava.
