Abbas appeals to Ahmadinejad for help on Palestinian state

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas appealed to Iranian President Ahmadinejad for help in establishing a Palestinian state, Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat said Friday according to Palestinian news agency Ma'an.
Erekat described the meetings as "frank and productive,' according to Ma'an.
During the talks, Ahmadinejad pressed Abbas to push forward with reconciliation talks with rival Palestinian faction Hamas. Abbas, in turn, assured the Iranian president that a national unity deal was a "top priority."
Abbas was in Tehran to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit.
