Vice Premier Mofaz meets Obama, Donilon at White House

Vice Premier Shaul Mofaz met with US President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday thanking him for "firmly standing beside Israel and its security."
Obama joined a meeting between Mofaz and White House National Security Advisor Tom Donilon. According to a statement from Mofaz, he briefed Obama on the challenges facing Israel and the region. Mofaz also discussed the peace process, saying that the new broad-based coalition has opened an opportunity to advance negotiations with the Palestinians.
The vice premier discussed the Iranian threat with the US president, emphasizing the importance of passing harsher sanctions and keeping other options on the table in order to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Mofaz also told Obama that he believed sustaining the peace treaty with Egypt was of the utmost importance for Israel.
