Barak: Haredim to be drafted in August when Tal Law expires

Haredim will be drafted to the IDF in August when the Tal Law expires, following the failure to reach an agreement over the issue, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Tuesday.

Barak's statement came as Vice Premier and Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz was expected to officially announce Kadima's resignation from the coalition.

"During the next three months the Defense Ministry will formulate a temporary legislative proposal... to demand equality in the burden, which will come into effect until permanent legislation provides a full response to the issue," Barak stated.
