4 protesters light themselves on fire in Algeria

At least four Algerian citizens lit themselves on fire in the last five days, several Algerian sources reported.

Algeria has experience violent demonstrations in many cities over the last few weeks against rising food prices and unemployment, in parallel with the demonstrations occurring in Tunisia that purportedly began shortly after Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire when police confiscated his vegetable cart.

In Egypt, a man had also set himself on fire in front of the Egyptian parliament, and was shortly thereafter taken to a hospital and treated for his burns.
