The National Transplant Center, ADI, the donor organ registration organization, called for people to vote for life when casting their ballots on Tuesday, by signing up as potential organ donors.Some 750 representatives will set up registration stands near polling stations around the country.The center’s winter registration, headed by Channel 2 newsman Danny Kushmaro, reaches its peak on Election Day, when large numbers of people will be outdoors enjoying a vacation before and after voting.Health Ministry director-general Prof. Ronni Gamzu said on Monday that Election Day will be a rare opportunity for the public to learn about ADI and organ donor registration and actually sign up. The organization hopes to sign up tens of thousands of new members to raise the current number from 720,000 to 750,000 in one day.Those who sign up for an ADI card, as well as their immediate families, would automatically be higher up in the queue for receiving organs, should they ever need them. Since that bonus has been added, more than 50 patients have received transplants by shortening their wait on the list.One can register for a card by going onto the ADI website at https://www.itc.gov.il/form.a sp, or by visiting the organization’s Facebook page.
