Hadassah: New emergency medicine director

Dr. Aziz Darawshe will be replacing Dr. Ya’acov Assaf, who has filled the position for 18 years

Dr. Aziz Darawshe, the former head of emergency medicine at Emek Medical Center
in Afula, has been named the director of emergency medicine at Hadassah
University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem.
He will be replacing
Dr. Ya’acov Assaf, who has filled the position for 18 years and is
retiring.
Darawshe studied medicine at the University of Sofia in
Bulgaria, and specializes in cardiology, internal medicine and emergency
medicine. He also has a master’s degree from Ben- Gurion University of the Negev
in health management systems.
Since 2010, Darawshe has been the chairman
of the Israel Society for Urgent Medicine and has been an honorary member of the
American College of Emergency Physicians since 2011.
The new Hadassah
appointee has published more than 20 articles on emergency medicine in leading
international journals, especially in regards to cardiology, and has presented
his findings at numerous medical conferences abroad.
