The Tourism Ministry and Channel 2 News are launching a “Seven Wonders of
Israel” competition, in which the national and international public can vote for
their seven favorite sites – natural or man-made – on the Channel 2 Facebook
page, the ministry announced on Monday.
Through September 13, the public
can make suggestions of their favorite sites on the page, after which a
committee from the Tourism Ministry, Channel 2 News, tour guides and academics
will select 15 finalists, according to the contest instructions.
From
September 18 through the contest’s conclusion on September 22, the public can
vote on the same page for the seven winners, which will then be announced by the
minister on Channel 2’s Six with Oded Ben-Ami.
“The competition
strengthens the links to Israel’s heritage, increases awareness of the wide
range of historical, archeological, natural and religious sites in Israel,
creating new marketing opportunities to expose these wonders to the rest of the
world,” said Tourism Minister Stas Meseznikov in a statement. “I welcome
Israelis and foreigners to take part in the competition, making suggestions and
voting for their favorites.”
