"I sat next to her once, thought she was beautiful, and I think she's very happy in Alaska - and I hope she'll stay there," Barbara Bush said, referring to Palin.

In his comments on the Tea Party, the former president said "they're all right," but that he is confused as to their goals.

The couple praised their son, George W. Bush's book, "Decision Points," saying that it accurately depicts life in the While House.

The comments come as Palin has hinted that she may run for president in 2012. Palin is planning to go on tour to promote her new book, which will be released next week, "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag."
