Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement's northern branch who was arrested in the UK last month, has been freed on bail, AFP reported Friday.Salah has appealed a UK government decision to deport him.RELATED:Raed Salah awaits UK deportation after entering despite banArab MK visits Raed Salah in UK prison with legal teamThe rise of Raed SalahThe Islamist activist was detained after entering London last month despite a government ban.Salah's lawyer said at the beginning of July that his client had been wrongly accused and that he is “a man of peace.” He also accused the UK government of turning its back on the Palestinians.Salah, who has served time in prison for transferring funds to Hamas, and who is arrested periodically and banned from Jerusalem for incitement to violence, was convicted of incitement to terrorism in 2008 after giving an anti-Israel speech in which he claimed that Jewish people “eat bread dipped in children’s blood.”Last year, he served five months in prison for assaulting and spitting on a police officer.The Islamic Movement leader also sailed on the Mavi Marmara in May 2010 as part of the Gaza flotilla.Yaakov Lappin and Lahav Harkov contributed to this report
