Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called for the resignation of Gen. Pervez Musharraf on Saturday, citing growing instability and a possible assassination attempt on the military ruler. "He must quit, otherwise the nation of 160 million people of Pakistan will force him to step down," Sharif said at an opposition conference in London, a day after shots were fired when Musharraf's plane took off from a military base and troops clashed with students at a radical mosque.
