A suspicious package found at the downtown Federal Building early Tuesday prompted evacuations and street closures, investigators said. The suspicious package was found in a trash can and members of the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad were at the scene, said Officer Martha Garcia, a police spokeswoman. It was not known whether the trash can was inside or outside the building. All the streets in the immediate area were closed, Garcia said. Some people were evacuated, but Garcia did not know whether the entire building was vacated.
