Britain's Home Office says it will not deport a gay Iranian teenager back to his homeland. The UK Border Agency said on Tuesday that Mehdi Kazemi will be allowed to remain in Britain. Kazemi came to England to study English in 2005. He discovered his boyfriend had been charged in Iran with sodomy and hanged. Kazemi asked for asylum, claiming he would be executed if he returned to Iran. Though his application was refused last year, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith agreed to reconsider his case in March.
