A senior UN official met Nepalese leaders Sunday and said he was optimistic about the country's peace process that ended a decade-old communist rebellion. UN Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Prachanda, leader of the former rebels who gave up their armed revolt last year to join the peace process. Prachanda uses only one name. "I am very optimistic that the process will move forward. Today I am more optimistic than I was when I came," Pascoe told reporters before ending his two-day visit to the Himalayan nation.
